Bureau Guides

Practical procedures for turning harmless everyday mishaps into concise incident reports, recurring jokes, thoughtful gifts, and collectible records.

Standard procedure · five fields

The Bureau filing method

A strong incident report is short enough to understand at a glance and specific enough to feel unnecessarily official.

Field 01

Observe

Choose one harmless, recognizable moment rather than a general personality trait.

Field 02

State

Describe what happened in plain words. Let the format supply the joke.

Field 03

Measure

Add one precise detail: time, quantity, distance, attempt count, or item status.

Field 04

Classify

Assign a dry status such as pending, unresolved, verified, or case closed.

Field 05

Check

Remove private, cruel, unsafe, or identifying details before the file leaves your desk.

Keep the incident minor

The Bureau joke depends on disproportionate paperwork for something genuinely low stakes. Real harm is not material.

Suitable for filing

  • Forgotten coffee, delayed laundry, misplaced objects, harmless errands, or unusual competence.
  • A shared joke the subject understands and would reasonably enjoy.
  • Details you personally know and can describe without speculation.
  • Language that stays observational rather than humiliating.

Route elsewhere

  • Emergencies, crime, threats, medical events, safety issues, or requests for real help.
  • Workplace complaints, accusations, private disputes, or allegations about another person.
  • Names, addresses, account information, confidential material, or sensitive personal details.
  • Anything that depends on cruelty, harassment, or an unwilling subject.
