Minor Incident Bureau

Records amendment · procedure C-01

Corrections Policy

How the Bureau fixes factual errors, labels changed information, preserves material amendment notes, and keeps fictional casework distinct from real-world claims.

Scope test

Correction, update, or fictional record?

The Bureau corrects verifiable real-world claims. It does not relabel an obviously fictional case number merely because no actual department issued it.

Correction territory

  • A factual statement, quotation, attribution, date, or source is wrong.
  • A link points to the wrong destination or materially misstates the destination.
  • A product specification, marketplace term, disclosure, or relationship label is inaccurate.
  • Alternative text or nearby copy fails to communicate essential image information.
  • A material omission changes how a reasonable reader would understand the guidance.

Handled differently

  • A price, program rule, or external policy changed after publication: label it as an update.
  • A spelling, punctuation, or layout defect does not change meaning: repair it routinely.
  • A reader disagrees with a clearly identified opinion: review it, but disagreement alone is not an error.
  • A fictional incident number, status, or Bureau department is part of the disclosed entertainment premise.
  • Urgent safety, legal, medical, workplace, or emergency matters belong with appropriate real services—not this Bureau.

Classification standard

Three amendment levels

Visibility follows consequence. The larger the effect on trust or reader action, the more prominent the correction record.

Level C-01 · material

Meaning or decision changed

Examples include an undisclosed commercial relationship, a false experience claim, the wrong recommendation, a privacy issue, or a central factual error. Correct the page and add a clear dated notice explaining what changed.

Level C-02 · substantive

Supporting fact changed

Examples include an incorrect attribution, meaningful specification, link destination, or supporting detail. Correct the text and add a note when the original could have affected understanding.

Level C-03 · routine

Meaning stayed intact

Spelling, punctuation, formatting, and non-substantive clarity edits may be corrected without a public note. They must not be used to conceal a material change.

Procedure C-05

From report to amended file

A correction is checked against the page, its sources, and any commercial or social versions before a notice is filed.

Step 01

Locate

Identify the URL, exact passage or asset, and the date it was observed.

Step 02

Verify

Compare the disputed detail with primary or otherwise reliable evidence.

Step 03

Classify

Choose material, substantive, routine, or update based on reader impact.

Step 04

Amend

Correct the page and any controlled excerpt, metadata, pin, or product copy carrying the same error.

Step 05

Record

Add a dated note when required and preserve enough context to understand the change.

What a material correction notice contains

The notice names the correction date, describes the original problem without repeating harmful material unnecessarily, supplies the corrected information, and identifies the evidence used. An update caused by a later change is labelled Updated, not Corrected.

Reporting packet

What to retain for a correction request

A monitored public Records Desk is not active yet. This page documents the packet now so the eventual route can begin with usable evidence.

Page
The full page URL and, if possible, the section heading.
Prevents the wrong file or reused excerpt from being amended.
Detail
The exact sentence, label, link, image description, or product claim in question.
Separates a verifiable claim from a broad disagreement.
Evidence
A primary source or reliable record supporting the requested change.
Lets the reviewer reproduce the finding rather than accept an assertion.
Impact
How the issue could change meaning, access, a purchase decision, or a person's privacy.
Helps assign the correct amendment level and priority.

Contact limitation on file

The site does not yet publish a monitored contact address, so it cannot responsibly promise receipt or a response time. A reporting route will be added only after the address, handling responsibility, and privacy terms are verified.

Research basis

Prompt, prominent, and understandable

The procedure follows the general accountability principle that mistakes should be acknowledged and corrected promptly and prominently.
